CAJLTThe CAJLT is a non-profit association comprised of California teachers who are working to improve Japanese language and culture instruction primarily at the pre-college level. Our organization encourages young people to study Japanese language and culture in order to promote intercultural communication and understanding, and as a way to gain the skills necessary to become an informed citizen in our increasingly global society. Currently, there are over 100 members in the CAJLT, and we invite other Japanese teachers in California to join our association and take advantage of the many benefits we offer! ActivitiesBenkyoukaiCAJLT sponsors several meetings (called "benkyoukai") where teachers get together to share ideas on classroom activites. The scheduled meetings should be listed on the events section of the home page. Conferences/WorkshopsCAJLT has a large presence at the Calif. Language Teachers' Association conference in April. Many of our members present workshops and sessions at the conference. CAJLT's annual meeting is held at the CLTA conference.
NewsletterCAJLT publishes its own newsletter 4 times a year. The newsletter gives teachers timely information on our profession as well as ideas for clasroom activities. AffiliationCAJLT is an affiliate of NCJLT (National Council of Japanese Language Teachers). Through this affiliation, CAJLT members can participate in JNHS (Japanese National Honor Society) and the annual Nengajyou contest. Members will also receive the NCJLT publication, "Oshirase".
